My Students

Kindergarten students need to be exposed to lots of great literature. They of course need to be read to but also need to listen to literature on tape/cd. A listening center provides students with a wide variety of literature and independence in choosing it.

Almost all of my students are 5-6 years of age.

Our school is a public elementary school in Arkansas. They love to learn and enjoy listening to all kinds of literature. Most students are not exposed to literature before coming to kindergarten. This listening center will provide them with the opportunity to hear a wide variety of literature throughout their school day.

My Project

This modern listening center will provide my students with the tools to listen to a wide variety of literature on tape and cd. It will be easy for them to control independently while I am working with other students in small groups. Students will hopefully build comprehension skills as well and listening skills. Following directions will hopefully be taught and mastered through this center.

Funds are limited at my school since it is a small town school.

Large equipment and furniture is costly and can take up a lot of the funds a teacher receives for her room each year. With great sites and funding like this, we are able to get great equipment that will be useful and beneficial to the student's learning. I know can focus on getting more literature for my students if this equipment is provided for my students. It will make listening to stories more enticing and fun.
