My Students

Do you remember your mom telling you to look but don't touch? Its just the opposite in my classroom. Students are encouraged to be actively involved in their learning.

My active 20 kinders are from a rural, south, Alabama town.

Our Title I school has a large population that receives free or reduced lunch. I do my best to teach these children to live in a technological world with interesting and engaging instruction.

My Project

The resources that I'm requesting will bring a hands on experience to discovering their senses. Students will be able to work in small groups at stations to understand their senses at a deeper level. My students will decipher which sound boxes are the same and different, and using the weight boxes students will be able to grasp that the sense of touch is not only about texture. The set of gears will allow the students to expand on their reasoning skills that are being developed through sensory activities.

If you consider that matching develops early logic and reasoning skills and is a component of early math and literacy then you will understand the need for these items in my kindergarten classroom.
