My Students

Have you ever have the opportunity to bounce on a trampoline as a child or now as an adult? Remember the fun you had and how freeing it was to be bouncing in the air? Offering that same experience to my students is just one of the reasons why I hope to receive two trampoline's in my classroom.

My forty little preschoolers are the most amazing children you will ever meet!

Their excitement for life, learning, and exploring through play is what drives my daily instruction. I have two sessions throughout the school day; an A.M. and P.M. class. Each class contains 20 preschoolers ranging in age from 3 to 5 years. Our preschool program offers children the experience of learning through their play. When you come into my classroom you will see students playing throughout various learning centers that they have self selected.(You will NEVER see them filling out worksheets or completing "cut and paste" activities) Everything they do in class in created by them! My students take ownership for their learning and creations that are displayed throughout the room. Working with students one on one, taking observational notes of their thinking, conversations, interactions and products they create also help guide my explicit instruction.

My Project

One of my biggest goals for this upcoming year is to work on the development of their gross motor skills. Helping them to develop their balance, leg strength, core strength, and listening to their bodies. Using these trampoline's, I can integrate math activities that involve color identification, counting, shapes, and matching picture clues. Using picture cards, and picture mats for students to use on the trampoline. Within Language Arts, we will use the trampoline for helping develop skills in sequencing, story re-tell, letter identification, phonics, and phonemic awareness. Using familiar stories with our story boards, and picture sequence cards. The learning opportunities are endless with this new learning area I am hoping to gain for my classroom. "Bouncing to Learn" will be so much fun!

Using the trampoline's for learning and developing gross motor skills is not the only benefit that these will have in our classroom. It will benefit my at risk children who need to have sensory experiences of bouncing to help stabilize themselves to focus within the classroom.
