Has the lack of money ever kept you from doing something?

I teach language arts in a rural community in North Carolina.

School budgets are increasingly tight and there is often not a lot of money available to purchase new books. Many school libraries charge late fees and fines for late and missing books in order to replace and replenish school libraries. This can create a challenge for many of our economically challenged students.

My Project

Many students who have fees or fines do not check out reading materials in the school library. The classroom library is sometimes the only place that allows them to borrow books. It is hard to develop a love of reading when access to materials is limited or denied.

You can help my students by providing them access to reading materials without fear of cost or penalty.

Donor's Choose allows me to offer reading materials to my students and allows me to give needy students a second chance at borrowing reading materials.
