This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When you were young, do you remember having a cozy reading spot in your classroom, a quiet place where you could retreat and read a good book? Well, I would like to create a cozy corner for the students in my class.
Most of my students are classified as English Language Learners and are reading below grade level.
My school is located in a lower socioeconomic area in Los Angeles. Even though they struggle with learning English, my students are highly motivated to improve their reading.
My Project
My students like to read independently while sitting on the rug, but the rug we have now is in poor condition. They need a comfortable rug to enjoy reading in my classroom. This cozy spot would allow my students to relax, read, and share their stories with others. This colorful carpet would also give my students a place to sit when I read aloud to them daily or come together as a group to do an activity.
This kid friendly rug will greatly benefit my classroom.
It will provide a comfortable place for my students to sit and learn. The animals on the rug will also allow each student to have their own personal space. With a new rug the cozy corner can be a wonderful place for encouraging students to read and enjoy literature.
