Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember how exciting it was to go back to school shopping and pick out your new pencil box, boxes of crayons, and a new backpack? My students do not get to experience this exciting time.
My students are from an urban area with high poverty.
They are eager to learn despite their lack of basic essential school supplies. With necessary supplies, such as pencils and markers, my students will be very grateful. They cherish simple items such as pencils.
My Project
My students will be excited about starting the new school year with supplies that they otherwise would not have. They will feel prepared and ready to learn. My students will have pencils and paper to use when learning mathematics and social studies. They will have scissors and glue to create projects for science. This my seem simple to most but, to these kids, having the bare minimum is not what they are accustomed to.
As a teacher, I want my students to come to school prepared but with their challenges at home this is not an option.
So, with your help, my students will be able to start the school year off with basic school supplies.
