My students need books to help break down Greek and Roman mythology into understandable knowledge because the text for the class is very difficult to read.

My Students

Do you remember trying to keep the gods and goddesses' stories, relatives, and powers straight? Even as a teacher, I have to refer to reference books, guides, and the Internet to get things straight! My students need materials that they can actually read to help them with this task.

My students are rural kids who have an interest in mythology, which is an elective course.

We are not fortunate to be near a museum that celebrates Greek and Roman mythology. I suspect that many of them are captivated by the stories behind the myths, not the difficult reading of the text I will be using, Edith Hamilton's Mythology. Even as an adult, I find the text dense with information and difficult to understand. I know my students will struggle with the level of reading and synthesizing needed to grasp the content of the stories.

My Project

These resources I have requested are like encyclopedias for mythology. They are quick and user friendly guides to the stories, monsters, gods/goddesses, and families in mythology. I can see my students putting these books to good use to break down and understand mythology in a meaningful way!
