My Students

When my students come to my classroom, they can't read yet. Using a digital camera helps in so many ways! I can print their picture and put their name next to it, helping them identify their name, and reducing first day stress.

My students are bright, eager to learn 4 and 5 year old children in full day Pre-K.

Our school is in a low socio-economic area, but our class has high expectations! Many families have limited English, or no English spoken at home. Seeing words in English and then the picture printed out next to it helps them learn quickly.

My Project

Walking into the first day of Pre-K and already seeing your picture in your cubbie, at your table and at different places in the classroom sets a child at ease. I'd like to take pictures at "Meet the Teacher Night" and have them ready for the kids when they walk in the first day of school. This will help reduce fears and surely bring more smiles to my students when they see that they are the "stars of the class"! During the school year I will use the camera and printer ink to take pictures of activities that we've done in our class and print them in our newsletters that go home to parents. Moms and Dads love to see their children in class activities! I also plan to make class books during the year.

This project is important to my classroom because it will help make a huge difference to my students immediately - they will see their pictures printed out and be able to find where they need to go, or be the star of a book or newsletter sent home to parents.
