Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My four year olds are blooming authors and illustrators who want to make their own books, but unfortunately I do not have the supplies to make "real" books to help them to see themselves as authors. I need your help to inspire these children and help them to love reading and writing!

My classroom is made up of 22 fabulous four and five year olds who crave an amazing environment to learn.

I teach Kindergarten 1, a Kindergarten curriculum for four year olds, in a Title I public school. Our school is located in a very urban, poverty stricken community. Many of my students are English Language Learners with very limited English vocabularies. Unfortunately, most of the children do not have fabulous books, markers, scissors and other learning materials at home.

My Project

I am asking for a binding machine to bind my children's stories into individual and class books. I am asking for comb bindings and clear covers to make the books. Lastly, I am asking for card stock so that children can make title pages for their books. This will help us to create individual stories based on children's lives, retellings of our favorite stories like "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?", shared stories of class experiences like field trips and much, much more!

Our district has made major cutbacks and is unable to supply the materials we need.

The parents of the children I teach have very limited resources and are unable to purchase materials for school. I have also stretched my personal resources very thin and am unable to purchase these wonderful materials. Your donation will truly impact my students lives by increasing their self esteem and enabling them to take pride in their drawing and writing. Thank you so much!
