We are Family!--Learning about Word Families

My students need four word family games and centers, a word family flip book and two word family study activities.

My Students

I taught a lot of things my first year teaching but I learned even more. The biggest thing I'll take away is that my students badly want to be strong readers but they won't accomplish that without practicing foundational reading skills every day!

At the beginning of the year, my students did not see college as a reality.

Only 7% of students in our district graduate high school college-ready. However my students and I believe that all children not only will but CAN learn. No excuses. Our goal for the year is to end the year reading above grade level. We are committed to working hard to be prepared for 2022, the year they will enter college.

My Project

Dr. Seuss wrote "Oh the thinks you could think!" I'm inspiring my students to think big dreams no matter the difficulty. Becoming fluent readers will give them the ability to achieve whatever dream they can imagine and open their minds to new ideas. Being a good reader means they have access to more books which will expose my students to awesome ideas and experiences. This is exactly why we need fun and engaging activities to help practice word families and letter sounds.
