My students need a Cd and 25 individual copies of the book, Little House in The Big Woods, and DVDs of 2 episodes from the Little House on the Prairie televison series.

My Students

Did you ever watch Little House on the Prairie? During lessons that compare life during pioneer days to the present, my students have no idea what I am talking about. I just know they will benefit from being able to see and hear the story of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I teach at the best public school in NC!

Our school has over 500 students, K-3, with an increasing amount of disadvantaged students. My students are not only curious, they are also wonderful! Every single day is a new one and my students are eager to find out just what we will be learning about. I have the best job in the world and I look forward to going to work every day!

My Project

The resources I have chosen include 25 copies of the book, "Little House in the Big Woods", a Cd of the book so students can hear the book read aloud and 2 episodes from the TV series, Little House on the Prairie. The books and Cd will allow my students to listen and follow while the book is read aloud. The DVDs will give my students a better picture of how life was for families in the Pioneer days. Students will participate in several follow-up activities that include "Pioneer Days" rotations in the school gym that include making bread and butter, pottery, quilt making, etc., and a visit to a local heritage park to learn about the history of our town. My overall goal is to give them a better glimpse of what life was like during the Pioneer days for both kids and adults.
