My Students

I have never been a color-inside-the-lines kind of teacher. I prefer to give students a variety of materials and then stand back to watch the creative process unfold! It is so fun to listen to students tell about their artwork...a piece of macaroni is a lion, 3 flowers are their siblings, etc...

My students are the youngest in the school and most are experiencing a classroom environment for the very first time.

We are a tiny West Texas farming and ranching community with no pre-school programs so I want to make sure their first year of learning is an awesome adventure of sights and sounds.

My Project

With the materials I requested, my students will learn how to make art from raw materials. They may re-create stories or images from their life or make up a fantasy world to share. Colored macaroni, sparkly glu-ons, shells, and the other materials will inspire them to explore their own sense of creativity.

The materials will help my students' tactile, visual, cognitive, and sensory development.

Art in the elementary classroom is a key to development of the whole child and gluing, cutting, and coloring is just plain fun!
