From Sketch to Cartoon Animation

My students need 6 wood manikins, 6 sets geometric shape, rulers, color pencils and 25 sketch pads.

My Students

Remember when you watched Saturday morning cartoons and wondered how they did that??? My students will be learning to sketch their own cartoon character, put it into a comic strip, and then create a 2-D animation video.

The majority of the students attending this school are on the "free and reduced lunch" program.

They attend the district's "Digital Media Magnet" school and every student must enroll in one or more magnet program. The 2-D Animation course is new this coming fall and the student enrollment is overwhelming. My students need the art supplies to sketch and create a cartoon animation video.

My Project

Students enrolled in this course will learn various techniques in drawing, storyboarding, animation, and producing a final video with sounds and music. Students will be able to use the techniques they develop in this class to further their education in graphic arts, newsprint, video production, animation, and/or gaming.

Donations of the various supplies will enable the students to obtain the "bigger" picture of what real life graphic artists', game designers', and animators' skills they need to develop and are required to do.

It is not all fun and games; it takes preparation. With your help, and these supplies, the students will experience some of the realistic situations.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
