Bringing Literature to Life

My Students

Do you remember reading a book and wondering how it would be if you could see it on the big screen? I want to share some of the classics with my students as we go through the units that I teach. This will be a chance for the students to compare and contrast the book to the film.

My students come from a low socioeconomic background.

Some of them haven't read the books let alone see the film that goes along with it. There are also some of my students who struggle to read and seeing the film will help them better understand what they're reading. These films cover social studies as well as literature.

My Project

Do you remember what it was like when you were a kid and had to read a certain book? This donation will help bring literature alive for my students as well as help bring history alive. It will also help introduce students to some of the classics that most have never read. I would like for my students to be able to have the opportunity to see different types of films that go along with our units. It will bring them a new understanding because they'll be able to compare and to contrast the difference between the books and the films.

I think there is more to learning than just reading and writing.

Sometimes we need to see the world through the big screen. This gives my students a chance to experience both. They will be able to see how films and books can differ and how they can be alike. They will also get the chance to write about what they experience after reading the books and viewing the films. What a hands on approach to helping students to learn!
