My Students

Public speaking is one of the most important skills a person can develop.

My students have several times throughout the year that they are asked to get up in front of the class and speak.

Typically, this means they are defending a topic they chose to write about persuasively or showing off research that they completed. Year after year, the students HATE speaking out publicly because they are nervous and/or don't feel comfortable just "putting themselves out there" in front of everyone.

My Project

My request is for 1 basic lectern, or podium, that my students can stand behind and feel professional speaking from. A basic wooden lectern will make a student's presentation mean so much more to him that it will make a major impact on his performance.

Public speaking is important, but so is feeling safe and comfortable in front of your peers.

My students' benefits from the professionalism of even a very basic lectern would not only help their speaking skills, but would help with the students overall self-confidence!
