My Students

Technology is constantly changing and our students are inundated by the media. It is essential that we teach them to recognize biases that exist. These cameras will help them record news themselves, analyze biases and engage in high level thinking. It will also give them access to new technology.

My students are phenomenal.

For many of them there are plenty of challenges in their home lives, but they continue to put their education in the forefront. It can be difficult to procure the most up-to-date technology for them, as budgets are tight. But they truly appreciate any access they get to technology - it keeps them engaged and encourages them to consider technological fields as career paths.

My Project

The four Flip cameras will be used not only in my classroom, but in the classrooms of several other teachers. For my students they will become the "reporters". They will research, develop and share news stories from multiple points of view. In addition to delivering the news, the students will be given access to technology that is new for many of them, and they will be given the chance to explore career paths they may have never considered before.

The cameras are essential to the Current Events classes that I am teaching this year.

If we want students to be prepared for the world outside of high school, we have get them to think critically. The projects they will create with these cameras will do just that.
