Mrs. Angstadt from Romulus MI is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a soprano xylophone and mallet to insure everyone gets an instrument to play in ensemble.

Imagine the excitement of signing up to play in Orff Ensemble...only to find out that the class size has increased again and there aren't enough instruments for everyone. Sharing xylophones isn't easy and learning a piece takes forever! How frustrating!
The Orff Ensembles are comprised of 60 7th and 8th grade students of varying musical abilities.
They perform in 2 concerts each year. Members learn to play percussion instruments focusing on xylophones and African drums, compose their own pieces, as well as study different cultures through music.
If you have ever been forced to stand next to someone else and watch them play, you'll understand how ineffective that method is in learning how to play an instrument. This year we went so far as to draw xylophones on large paper to practice when the instruments were all in use. With this xylophone, another deserving student will be able to more actively participate each day.
Orff Ensemble is an exciting organization that promotes higher order thinking skills and positive team relationships.
Each year the class size has increased, while the budget has remained the same or decreased. At the current budget, there is no opportunity to purchase the necessary instruments to keep each student active in class.
