My Students

My goal as a French teacher is to offer each of my students a variety of ways to appreciate and acquire the French language, the culture of France, as well as the Francophone countries of the world.

Second language acquisition is important in the academic career of any high school student for many reasons.

The majority of my students speak English, as well as a second language at home. Studying French gives them the opportunity to explore a third language. My students are also interested in being successful at one of the many colleges across the country. Knowing a second (for some, a third) language opens the door to many future opportunities.

My Project

In a large, public high school, materials are often limited; however, technology is expected to be incorporated into my daily lesson plans. If I had the proper technological equipment, I could provide my students with many additional resources, other than the traditional textbook. Through your generous donations, I would like to add a fully-equipped laptop computer and a LCD projector to my classroom. A laptop computer would allow me to share many of my personal photos of France and Quebec, as I travel from class to class. I would also be able to access many French websites for students to explore and practice from. These photos and websites provide students with additional knowledge of French language and culture. The computer and projector will enable me to show French movies and play many French songs, all of which will help my students with listening comprehension and vocabulary. Realia and immersion are essential ways to successfully acquire a second language

I am looking forward to the new laptop computer and projector in my classroom as they will engage and encourage my students to study French in ways that were different from before.

Hopefully, they can use the skills learned through this technology in their college careers. On a personal note, I can now prepare lessons that will differentiate instruction. All in all, I want each of my students to be successful with French now and in the future.
