My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you could not put down? My students need to discover the wonderful world of reading. My students range from struggling readers to gifted readers. If these terrific teens read, they will travel places they could never go!

My students are struggling readers, and they are reluctant readers of all levels of ability.

If I can use these "high-interest" novels to help them love reading, their eyes will be open to an incredible world of knowledge. Sometimes my students are reluctant to read, but that is because they have not found the genre that suits them yet. With this spectacular program, I have the opportunity to change their minds. They are energetic eighth graders who want to learn, but for some of them, reading is not interesting. My students attend a public, middle school, and getting plugged into reading will reward them in so many meaningful ways!

My Project

With these excellent novels, my students will be introduced to two genres that are truly engaging to young adult readers. I will be using these novels in a literature circle activity. During this activity, students interact with each other and discuss the novel. The students get to make personal connections to the novel and share them. My students will learn that reading is enjoyable and it is meaningful! For some of them, it may change their lives! When they are "Life-Long Literary Learners," they will always fondly remember these two novels.
