This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One of the most powerful tools for engaging my students is to put their work onto the Promethean board for class editing and viewing. They also delight in seeing their work posted on the classroom website and having it as a keepsake on their DVD Yearbook!

I have a wonderful class.

Bright, eager, enthusiastic, and willing to try their best. They are polite, kind, and some of the most humorous students to work with. They love technology and quickly become adept at using our classroom computers and equipment. They struggle in reading because they are second-language learners. At times, these children have difficulty speaking English, but they want to become better. Their enthusiasm is contagious and their humor is side-splitting. I leave class every day with a smile on my face!

My Project

Imagine being able to see your writing assignment on the board in front of you, being used by the class as an 'excellent example' of writing. Or perhaps vying for the honor of having your art project being used to illustrate the classroom website. Students really relate to school when it's personal. If examples of work are their own, student engagement is doubled. When you are competing with others to have your work posted to the classroom website, you bring on your 'A game.' This scanner will allow student work to be immediately usable and 'post-able.' As a teacher, being able to record scanned student work into portfolios is useful for me, parents and administrators. Talk about accountability! Finally, the students' projects, drawings, poetry, and writing go into an end-of-the year keepsake, our DVD Yearbook.

This scanner will be an invaluable tool that will see daily usage in our classroom.

Students will be able to see their work immediately on the board for general critique and used as a model. They will also benefit by being trained to use another piece of technology. Finally, as an incentive, nothing quite says 'Good Job' like seeing your artwork displayed for all to see on the website or in the DVD yearbook!
