Hands on math materials will give students the tools that they need to be successful in learning math

My students attend a public school in a large school district.

They are in first grade and love to learn through hands on experimentation. Our school district is in proration. Therefore, the school system is not able to provide teachers with adequate funding for student materials.

My Project

Dominoes, pocket charts, counters, geoboards, venn fiagrams, tangrams, pattern blocks are just a few of the materials that I am requesting. These materials will add so much to my math lessons. I will be able to create games and center activities using these materials. Without hands on materials, young children are not engaged in learning. However, when students are actively engaged they will construct knowledge. With these math manipulatives, my students will have the potential to construct their own mathematical knowledge and understanding.

Donations will make a huge difference in the life of my students.

Each new learning experience adds to the potential for future student success. Some students become disinterested in school. However, students need to love and enjoy school. Therefore, students will be motivated to become life long learners.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
