This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Computers not only help students connect to the broad world around them, but they also help students learn how to function in our quickly growing, technologically advanced world. When students have the opportunity to use computers quickly, effectively and successfully they learn more than how to type.

Many of my students do not have access to computers at home, and our school is working hard to expand our technology but that can not come quickly enough for my teenagers.

Many of my teaching standards require the use of technology. However without that technology, be it computers or otherwise, I cannot help my students to grow. When writing a paper, students need to learn to type things correctly. They will do that many times in college or business. Having a class set of netbooks will not only help my students become more prepared for their futures, it will also help them become better learners and ultimately peer teachers.

My Project

The netbooks I am requesting will live in my classroom and be available for my students to use when working on research papers or presentations. Book trailers will be easier for students to create. Typing final drafts or checking references will no longer be something many are unable to do at home or outside of school time. High school students have so many things going on outside of school, I feel it is my duty to help as much during the school day as possible. Netbooks are easy to store in the classroom and simple to use. Students at all levels of technological proficiency can easily learn and adapt to using a computer on a regular basis in the classroom. Their projects will be more complete and they will no longer have no way to finish an assignment.

The use of computers in my classroom is so important because it not only allows me to help my students in the classroom, but it also allows me to introduce websites, research techniques and time management.

Students who have no computer access at home usually spend the majority of the little time they have on computers surfing the Internet. Computers in the classroom can help them to focus and become more successful learners.
