Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How do you capture the attention of small children?.... With anything that is animated and moves! If it doesn't move or talk, they think it's broken!

My students are 4 and 5 year old Pre-Kindergartners who come from low income families or they are learning English as a second language.

They come into my classroom everyday like little sponges, ready to absorb whatever I have prepared to teach them.

My Project

The curriculum that I use for teaching Pre-k comes with a wonderful DVD that shows a different animated character for each letter of the alphabet. The DVD also includes a special character that teaches the children how to write the letters by themselves.

A new television with a DVD player built in, would greatly help my students become readers and writers.

They would be able to watch our curriculum DVD each week and then practice writing letters on their own. I love to watch their eyes light up when they accomplish such a task. They are always very proud of themselves.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
