My Students

My students are just beginning to become verbal. They need encouragement and opportunities to practice all forms of communication. Many of them come from under- privileged homes or poverty where they are not exposed to such amazing experiences. I want to provide those experiences.

My students are five-year-old special-needs students.

Some have Downs Syndrome, developmental delays, Autism, Angelman's Syndrome, and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome just to name a few. Our school consists of about 90% free or reduced lunch students. This indicates the financial difficulty our students and school go through on a yearly basis. These students deserve the world. Their families love them dearly however they are just not financially able to provide these opportunities.

My Project

Since many of the students are just learning to speak we want to excite them with games, art projects, physical activity, etc. By engaging in activities and making each experience rich with vocabulary we can broaden their exposure and in turn expand their vocabulary. It is our goal to have all of the students, who are physically capable, talking by the end of next year - even if they simply name a few items.

My classroom is changing purpose next school year.

Our division does not have the resources to supply me with items that are truly needed to fulfill these wonderful children and provide them with the most enriching activities possible. I want the very best for them. Your donations may make a difference between a child talking and a child being reluctant to engage!
