My Students

The students in our EAST classroom practice self-directed learning, meaning the projects they choose to participate in are things they are passionate about. One such area my students are interested in is videography. We do not have all of the equipment needed to produce the outcome we want.

My students are in grades 9-12 and are a driven group of kids who are very passionate about what they want to do, in this case, videography.

I teach in a school in a very rural area that has a high poverty rate, so funding is somewhat difficult to come by. Every one of these students wants to go to college, and the skills they will acquire by utilizing the equipment gained from your kind and generous donations will help advance them and enable them to reach their goal of attending college.

My Project

The equipment we are asking for includes items used in professional videography. My students would like to generate a Public Service Announcement Video to inform the community about our school safe rooms, which has the potential to save lives. We have been asked to record an oral history of members of our local Craft Guild, preserving the knowledge of the past for future use. That would educate my students as well as generations to come. Not only do we have those projects, we would also like to recreate educational videos, like those pertaining to the health of high school students on topics such as first aid, CPR, general health care, and other related subjects.

Through the use of the resources we are requesting, students will benefit by gaining professional level videography skills and our community will benefit from the products that we create.

Every one of our students plans on pursuing a career that will be complimented through the use of professional grade video resources. We frequently collaborate with our local humane society, civic groups, drug task force, game and fish service and hope to develop projects with other local and regional entities.
