My Students

Can you imagine walking into a classroom with a slate chalkboard that a teacher is not able to even use half of it? Can you imagine a student not having a place to display their writing that they are very proud of? Both of these are present in my classroom.

My class is made up of 25-30 2nd graders in a very poor urban neighborhood.

The school was built over 40 years ago and still has slate chalkboards and no display areas. My students deserve to be educated in a building with updated materials. Coming to school in a classroom with new boards will inspire them to learn more.

My Project

My students love to learn and show off what they know. They enjoy playing board races and hangman on the board. The boys and girls love to have fun. With a new dry erase board, my students will use many different markers that are bright and colorful to show what they have learned. We will be able to display their writing and other projects on the bulletin board. They always want to show their parents what they have learned. Visitors always stop by to see what we are learning as well. Having a new display area will help enhance their learning and presentations by motivating them to do an even better job.

Please help update my classroom so that my students feel like they are in suburban school and can escape from their troubled lives at home.

The bulletin board and dry erase board will support learning for many years to come.
