Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember your very first day of school? I always try to make that first day of kindergarten special and fun!
I teach 5 year-old Kindergarten in rural South Carolina. My students are bright and inquisitive. We are a Title One school with 93% of Kindergarten students receiving free/reduced lunch. Our school was featured on South Carolina's ETV's "Corridor of Shame." All of our funds have been frozen.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of materials for the new school year. They include homework folders, journals for everyday writing, pencil grips, CD's of some of my favorite "kiddy' music to replace albums that I have had for 32 years, new bulletin board supplies and a few other items.
Most of the parents of my students are not able to buy classroom supplies for their children. Providing my students with homework folders and journals will be a big help for my parents.
The other items I am requesting are basic supplies for a kindergarten classroom that will be needed at the beginning of the new school year.
