My Students

My drama students struggle to create characters for the required puppet show they must perform for Drama I. By providing them a variety of professional puppets, I can allow my students to focus on the quality of the storytelling and the overall performance.

I teach in a large suburban high school of over 2100+ students.

We have a wide range of ethnicity's and cultures with Native American students being served as our largest minority population. Most of my students come from low income or middle income families who have limited economic resources.

My Project

We need wiggly eyes and various puppets to perform dramatic interpretations of classic moral stories for preschool students that can be accessed on youtube. My students present a puppet show as part of their Drama I course which we videotape so we can analyze their performance. The students write scripts that have a moral for the everyday characters involved. If we had professional puppets, we could tape high-quality shows that can be posted on youtube and accessed by preschoolers.

A performance without an audience is like a cupcake without the frosting.

By allowing students to share their dramatic works on the Internet, countless number of people can share in the joy of theater.
