My Students

The economy on the Gulf Coast, since Hurricane Katrina, has struggled to recover in the past 5 years. Now, with the current economic situation, we face an even greater challenge. My school district is struggling just to survive the budget cuts the state has passed along to us.

The students in our school district are the ones that are losing.

Work force is getting reduced to skeleton crews, funding is being eliminated from areas that directly affect the quality of education they will receive, programs are being cut completely.

My Project

With this copy machine, printer cartridge, and carton of paper, I will be able to provide over 400 students the resources to have a productive and fun musical environment in my classroom. Having these items will enhance my classroom beyond measure and for years to come.

My students have been through tremendous challenges due to Hurricane Katrina and now they face another difficult stage in their lives.

The budget cuts that are currently taking place are unfortunate. With your help, we together, can make the negative impact the economy has had on them a little less stressful.
