My Students

Technology is everywhere around us. Even at an age of 8 or 9 you can tell that it is a part of 3rd graders’ lives daily. From having a broadcasting background I feel like it is my priority to incorporate some of my knowledge in audio and video creation in my third grade classroom.

My students are rural community students.

A lot of them come from the farm. But they also all enjoy technology. This will be their opportunity to connect with technology in a different way then at home. It is a creative way to get their ideas across.

My Project

I am requesting many of the small things that go with pod casting: microphones, speakers, camera, and flash drives. After looking, watching, and listening to many different kinds of audio and video presentations on the Internet and found that third graders are very capable of doing this kind of work. I decided to go and run with this idea. With a small class next year (2010-2011) I feel like this is a perfect time to start to incorporate this. I also tried this last year with my students, which was my first year as a teacher, but with not a lot of technology it did not pan out as well as I liked. It is my vision after taking a class for WordPress at a local Education Service Unit here in Nebraska to start a classroom blog. It is there that my vision to use audio recording and video recording to enhance the students’ learning.

Some examples of pod casting that I would like to start are: Monthly Student Classroom News Reports Book Reports Connecting with students from other parts of the State or Country Storytelling, when students write their own story and then later record it.
