My Students

Do you remember a time when you were in school sitting on a carpet and the teacher was going on about something and you drifted off a little bit? Perhaps you were half listening and got some information, but imagine what you would have learned if you were actively involved in the lesson.

I teach first grade in a small public school in Georgia.

I teach a diverse group of students from different backgrounds and income levels. Many of my students speak another language at home, but in spite of the challenges my students face they all love school. I am asking for a class set of magic erase boards. My hope is that instead of students sitting inactively watching me demonstrate a math problem on the board, they will also be working the problem on their magic board as well. Instead of watching me demonstrate how to write a sentence or word, they would be actively participating by writing on their magic board. The boards are a wonderful way to keep my students focused on learning while having fun in the process. Writing on these boards would be so fun they wouldn't feel like they were working at all!

My Project

Having these boards is also great for me to check if my students are understanding what I am teaching. I can ask a simple question, and the students hold up the board with their answer written on it. I can see if they are understanding or not, based on what I observe in their responses. These boards will really make a difference in my students' learning. I have used dry erase boards that belong to a fellow teacher in the past to see if they were an effective teaching tool. They were very effective, but passing out the boards, markers, and erasers can cause problems and waste time. Every time I used them there was always a child or two who began only to find out that their marker had gone dry, and we had to stop to exchange it. The magic erase boards have pens attached and an eraser built so they would not need to be replaced. Because of that, I won't need to spend additional money on erasers or markers in the future.

Your donation to the magic boards will help my students to be engaged in their lessons, as well as help me check for their understanding immediately and therefore teach more effectively.

My use of these boards will touch all subject matters. I can use them for math, language arts, science and social studies. These boards will make a huge impact in my classroom. Thank you in advance for your donation and support of other classrooms in need on Donors Choose.
