My Students

Science teaching is a BOGO: Buy One, Get One. That's right, when I teach science, I am also teaching math and language arts. This is why I feel science is an essential subject for all students. Collecting data is an important aspect of any science activity.

My students love science.

They are ready for action from the moment I greet them at the door. They especially enjoy using science tools to gather data. What is the mass of a snail? How fast does a marble roll down a ramp. No matter what the activity, my students love to make observations and record measurements.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of measurement tools to enable my students to collect and analyze data. What is the speed of a snail? How much water does a dripping faucet waste? What happens to the temperature when salt is added to ice water? Not only do I want my students to be able to solve problems, I want them to be able to collect the necessary data, too. This is why I am asking for stop watches, graduated cylinders, beakers, and thermometers.

Although I teach at several Title 1 schools, my students are achievers.

I want every child to feel successful, to know the pride that comes from scoring "advanced" on the state tests. To close the achievement gap, I must work to close the experience gap. This equipment will help make science come alive for my students.
