My students need more materials to supplement the existing rocks and minerals science kit that we currently have.

My Students

Help us get more involved with the Earth! Our current science kit is boring and mundane. We need more exciting and engaging materials to support our rocks and minerals study. Kids love science!

I currently teach 3rd grade in a small, rural school district on the Eastern slope of Colorado.

We are a Title I school, which means that over 60% of our students receive free and reduced lunch. We are located in a high poverty area located about 20 miles from the nearest city. Many of my kids don't get opportunities to explore our Earth in a positive way.

My Project

The resources I am requesting will help engage kids in a high-quality exploration of rocks and minerals and the Earth, following the standards in our state. I am requesting a resource library to help give kids a "glimpse" into Earth science. I hope to get them excited about science! The classroom rock samples will give kids hands-on experiences with rocks that they may never get to see otherwise.

Our school budgets are tight. Money for science has been cut this year and we are not able to purchase anything to supplement our science kits.
