My students need books to read, and lots of them, including Amelia Bedelia, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Curious George, Where the Wild Things Are and more!

My Students

My students attend school in a severely underfunded school and need a lot of exposure to books and need to build the motivation to want to read on their own. By providing the students with a wide variety of books you will give my students more literacy opportunities and increase their motivation!

I teach elementary special education in Louisiana and my students, once hooked into the lesson, take off!

One student in particular doubled his score on a phonics tracker. The students absolutely love football and the Saints Superbowl victory was incredibly energizing for the entire school!

My Project

The special education students I teach face an uphill battle when it comes to their reading skills. We need books to read, and lots of them! Our list includes Amelia Bedelia, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Curious George, Where the Wild Things Are and more! Donating books to the classroom will increase their exposure to more words, helping to expand their vocabulary, and improve their ability to comprehend stories by giving them more exposure to different story elements. Catching the students up to their fellow classmates reading level increases their confidence and grades in every other regular education class.

These books will help my students become much better readers; thereby, increasing their performance level in every other subject.
