My students need a digital camera that they can check out to document Flat Stanley and their adventures with him throughout our community! This is an amazing activity!

My Students

I teach in an low income area where education seems to be under valued by parents. It is a challenge to keep students engaged in learning- but I do it. Students in my room are 3rd graders and are in need of guidance. They benefit from hands on learning experiences that integrate technology!

My students are always working hard to keep up with the ever changing world.

At times they feel inadequate and left behind because they lack many of the social skills needed to be successful in the real world. It is my goal to be able to prepare them for the real world by focusing on education and keeping them engaged in learning using technology! Each year I work with the most needy students. I love having them in my classroom, they are so eager to learn and enjoy working with technology! Each year I work to create a classroom experience that makes coming to school exciting since many have difficult home lives. This year we will read the Flat Stanley series of chapter book. The Flat Stanley project can be viewed at FlatStanley.org - it is an amazing project that incorporates reading, geography, writing, social studies and technology!

My Project

We would love to be able to have a classroom camera that students could check to complete their Flat Stanley projects at school and in the community. Flat Stanley goes on many adventures all over the world in his stories. Students will create Flat Stanley's out of cardboard and take him along on adventures at school (to learn about the different people and jobs here on campus) and in their communities (to visit places like the fire house, police station etc.) Students document the adventures by taking pictures and writing in their journals. Then students will be sending Stanley all over the world to other classes participating in the project. WE will accept visiting Stanley's from other kids around the world and take their Stanley's on adventures, document with pictures and journal entries- then send him back.

This project is so amazing!

Students learn so much about their community, other cultures and traditions and also learn to be responsible caring for Flat Stanley. This project would be made even more beneficial with your help! So many students cannot afford the cost of a camera- and many have never been taught to use one! Please make a small donation that will make a world of difference!
