Physics Lab Supplies: Never Enough to go Around

My students need supplies for labs that will help demonstrate the laws of physics.

My Students

Remember being in Science class and using real Science lab equipment? It is exciting to students and they learn from the experience of actually doing!

I have a wide variety of students.

I have the resource and inclusion population in my classes without the help of an assistant. This poses a challenge when I have to create lab groups. I teach four classes a day with 21-27 per class. The EC population is distributed between two of the four classes. Most of these students learn from seeing and doing, so hands-on is very important.

My Project

These materials will enable me to give my students better opportunity to practice measuring mass when completing measurement labs and any other physics labs. The DVD will give students a better visual of physics in action than pictures in the textbook. While physics is all around everyday, students don't understand that laws of physics are being demonstrated all around them. I hope to add to this supply list and get supplies for specific labs.

By having my own classroom supplies and not having to coordinate my labs around the other 8 Science teachers, I can more easily plan for more hands-on activities.

Students struggle on end of year tests with measurement, if I have the triple beam balances and the digital scales, students can check their work more easily. The more hands-on opportunities available, the more learning going on in my classroom.
