This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When our Art Club first decided to hold video game tournaments we had no idea that a PS3, and most other games consoles for that matter, now require one to access an online server to compete in a multi-player mode. Most schools filter game servers that can be accessed via the "network."

My students are wonderful, out of the box thinkers.

They've decided that video game tournaments might be a way to generate a modest amount of revenue for our Art Club. They want to be able to afford actual material that they can use for art projects. They're tired of the Art Club just being people who label art work to be displayed throughout the school. Their ultimate goal is to generate/save enough money to travel to museums in nearby states and eventually have enough to go to Europe. I have to hand it to them, they are showing the foresight I wish most other kids of their generation would show. They are innovative and are not afraid of organizing a little work to get what they want. Now they just need one last push to get their ideas off the ground.

My Project

Currently, DonorsChoose.org is working with ESA to let your dollars have twice the impact they normally would to help us purchase a game console. This is an opportunity that is tailor fit for our project. These tournaments will help generate funds through entry fees and from vending. The money raised will help start other projects, which, in turn, will act in the same way; to help raise money for the arts in our school.

With help from the ESA funding, you will be providing opportunities for many students to spend hours in a classroom instead of on the streets.

For many, a rethinking of what opportunities school can offer will take place. In the process, a life may be changed in a significant way.
