My students need a copy of six different videos to add images and story to our study of American history.

My Students
Some people learn better by seeing than by reading, or by seeing than hearing someone talk about things. Most people learn better when they see things that go along with what they have read or seen.
The students in my World History/American History classes are 9th/11th graders.
Usually, there are 120 or more of them. Many of my students have such limited experiences that trying to visualize new concepts. Seeing helps a person in believing. Imagine trying to understand concepts like immigrating from Europe to America in the 1890s when you do not have something visual to help. Imagine trying to accurately assess life in the 1950s if '57 Chevy's and drive-ins were not familiar to you. To be able to see documentaries, re-enactments, clips from appropriate films greatly aids in these understandings.
My Project
While our school has a first rate system for playing video material in the classes, it is always an effort to find and obtain video material that is up to date on the latest historical findings and has quality re-enactments to demonstrate the topic/s. We are seeking to add understanding about this country to a new generation of students. We want them to see Andrew Jackson and how his work would influence the type of government we have. We want them to see the Cold war that shaped who we are.
I find that most of my students come into High School with a view of humanity that extends no further than going to the mall with their friends.
It is our goal in social studies to help future generations understand who we are and to help them become participating members of our communities and our nation. You can help them in these goals.
