My Students

My students are of middle school age, but academically they are still on a second or third grade level. Evan-Moor has come up with a great series that teaches middle school curriculum at an elementary school level for children with disabilities.

My students are wonderful kids who all have autism.

They are going into middle school, and we will be working on the same curriculum as the general education students. They are not however able to read or comprehend at a middle school level and this can make finding materials for them difficult.

My Project

Evan-Moor has come up with this wonderful series of books that presents upper grade material at an elementary school reading level. These books will be used on a consistent basis throughout the year to support and teach social studies in my class. It is not easy to find materials such as these and they are truly invaluable.

In the world of special education there, for the most part are not well thought out curriculum, and it falls to the teacher to create them.

This is difficult because most educational texts are not designed to teach higher grade material at a lower reading level. These books do. If you help me acquire these books they will be one of the most important aspects of our social studies program. Thank you.
