My Students

Reviewing math is often a boring, daunting task. But with Classroom Jeopardy, my students would be excited about doing math reviews.

I teach math to 6th, 7th and 8th graders at a small, urban, public charter school.

The community outside of our school is plagued by poverty, drugs and violence. Our school attempts to offer our students and their families a glimmer of hope: small class sizes, close teacher-student-parent relationships, innovative curricula, and a commitment to changing the community one child at a time. I have worked at this school for the past six years. My students love learning.

My Project

Having Classroom Jeopardy would excite and engage my students. Revisiting and reviewing material, especially in mathematics, is critical to maintaining a high level of mathematics knowledge and skill. Without review, students "lose" older information and keep newer information only. I know that using this program will help them get involved in our bi-weekly reviews, which will in turn help them remember the skills and knowledge we are reviewing. Because math is a subject that builds upon previous knowledge, this project will really help them advance their mathematics skills as well. I can imagine the excitement on their faces when we have "real" Jeopardy on the big screen!
