My Students

In kindergarten our students learn the most through their play. A hands-on-approach to learning makes concepts and skills easier to understand. Students are able to see things and learn by doing. Students learn key vocabulary this way. Without puppets or dolls it is difficult to do that

Most of our students live in poverty or don't have the means to supply their children with these things.

We also have a high minority population. We thrive on giving these children experiences for which they may not have had before. We lay the groundwork for learning to come in the next few years.

My Project

My students need a puppet theater, puppets, dollhouse furniture and dolls to use during exploratory centers. These items will give students a chance to play and act out stories which we have read. Using puppets and dolls enables students to role play and learn new vocabulary. Students will be able to act out stories we have read like The Three Little Pigs or Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

My project helps children learn through play.

The world we live in now is very academic. Children learn so much through play. This will give all of my students that chance to explore new vocabulary.
