My Students

Instead of telling me I won't achieve, give me the tools and I will exceed your greatest expectations. The lack of appropriate tools reinforces low expectations for my students in school and beyond. With adequate materials students are capable of achieving more than anyone could imagine.

This program serves Special Education High School students (Grades 9-12), in a Self-Contained setting.

Students are identified with a variety of disabilities and are working towards an Occupational Diploma. Students in this setting are expected to live on their own upon completion of High School. Therefore, their course of study focuses on basic life skills, independent living, money management, and job readiness.

My Project

As part of the Occupational Diploma program, students are required to create and manage a business enterprise within the classroom. In the past, they have created many different businesses including a gourmet dog biscuit business, a car washing business and an embroidery business. All of these situations require creative marketing strategies which would be enhanced by the utility of the cricut machine. Students would have the opportunity to create innovative advertisements to continually cultivate new clients. Furthermore, the knowledge and experience that students would gain through the use of the machine would be applicable in future college or work endeavors.

Without the proper tools, the classroom enterprises that students create will not experience success.
