My Students

Freaky fast fifth graders want to run a 5k! We are training as a class to complete a 5k run by the end of the school year.

We are a first year charter school in Indiana with a diverse group of talented kiddos.

Everyone is of different physical abilities but everyone is also excited to learn to train and run. Not a single student has had the opportunity to train for and run a race.

My Project

By having a stopwatch for each student they will be able to keep track of their specific times. This will help them as they reflect on their progress through their running journal. A measurement wheel will help me to map accurate courses for practice. These two materials together are key components in teaching the students to calculate rate, distance, and time.

Running has been a passion of mine since I was a child.

I hope that by sharing my passion with my students I will help them to love physical activity and fight the obesity trend. Plus, we love being freaky fast!
