My Students

Help my students with autism and developmental delays increase learning and engagement with sensory materials!

My students are in grades 5-8 and are served in a special school setting.

They all have significant disabilities and very unique needs. This is a super group of students who love school and want to learn. However, sensory issues interfere with this learning and keep my students from reaching their full potential.

My Project

Having more sensory materials available in my classroom will help my students focus, attend to instruction, and feel more secure and confident. For many of my students, sitting and attending to instruction is very difficult because of sensory needs. Being able to use a weighted lap pad, concentration cushion, or other sensory materials will help these students sit still and focus on learning. Some of my students need extra sensory activities throughout the day to make sure they are able to function and thrive in the classroom. Using the sensory toolkit will make my classroom a much more comfortable and inviting environment for my students.

These sensory materials will make it possible for my students to focus and learn.

By having a sensory-rich classroom, my students will be able to have their sensory needs met, which will result in improved engagement and learning.
