This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Let's get it started, Let's get it started in here. Who has heard these lyrics and not been pumped up? Music can teach, motivate, and inspire. Students relate to music in many ways, so to incorporate songs they hear on the radio into lessons and introductions, students can only be successful!

The majority of our students are from low-income families, some of which cannot afford school supplies for school each year, including backpacks.

Some students have never been to a restaurant, baseball game, or on a vacation, but they do know music! In order for these students to be successful in the real world, they need to be able to relate what they are learning to a song or something that is familiar to them, like music. I have access to familiar math songs, but I have found that current music can really inspire students to shine. Just beginning a lesson with a familiar song captivates the students to do their best.

My Project

I know that an Ipod would make classroom life a lot easier. Currently, I have several math Cd's and some songs are downloaded to the computer, so I am having to swap between the devices to play the music, which does waste instructional time. With an Ipod, I could have my playlists set up and ready to go for each lesson that day. Also, with the incorporation of a microphone and docking station with remote, the ideas for use are endless. These third graders are our future leaders and technology plays a very important role in today's society. Your generous donation will help my students become true Twenty First Century learners and help me protect our precious instructional time.

Music has been proven to reach students in a way that no other concept can.

Music allows students to find their particular learning style and create opportunities for students to learn through auditory, kinesthetic, tactile and visual ways. I know it will give my students the clarity to see math, science, and social studies in a new light. Thanks for helping to empower my students to do their very best!
