This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

There is more to electronic gaming than the violent video games that my students use at home!

It can be difficult to convince a middle school kid that reviewing what they have learned can be entertaining.

Sure, we can fill out study guides and take practice tests, but hands-on, technology based learning is the way of the future! "Inner city, high poverty"... this might describe them now, but in 10 years I expect these kids to be graduating from college and entering the work force. Amazingly, less than 50% of my students are exposed to the internet outside of school, and their comfort level with technology is average at best.

My Project

With your help, we can push these kids into the future with the confidence that they need to achieve success! My students need more options for enjoying educational electronic gaming. With Didj, Eggspert, Quizzillion, MathShark, Digitz, and an iTouch, we can learn as we play! These resources can help them review and practice basic AND advanced skills in Math, English, and Science, the three core subjects that I teach. Integrating technology and games into the curriculum is going to be so much fun!

From the gifted student who always finishes early to the special needs student who needs help with the most basic tasks, these gaming ideas will help everyone find greater meaning in their education.
