This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help us find our voices! We have mastered making beautiful art but in a world of texting and street slang we need an opportunity to find our voices and speak not only eloquently but with confidence about art.

My students are dedicated and talented when it comes to making art.

Many of them go on to pursue art not only in their post-secondary studies but in their careers as well. As of now their talent knows no bounds but we need to find better ways to learn about looking at, discussing, and writing about art.

My Project

The books I am requesting, Responding to Art with Core Concepts in Art and The Art of Seeing, would be resources for developing art criticism activities, lectures and writing assignments. They are current and actually interesting - which is of vital importance. I don't know if you have ever had the opportunity to see an old art history book but they are guaranteed to put even the most avid learner to sleep in a heartbeat!

These books are just what we need to revitalize our program and inspire these young artists.

Unfortunately given the current state of funding for education our budget has been cut and we are now limited to the bare necessities which does not in anyway include resources. We are counting on you, won't you please consider helping out these great kids?
