This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach special education at a low income school, working with ninth and tenth grade students.

My students are impacted by moderate- severe disabilities. The budget cuts have hit us again and this year they have hit us hard. I want to give my students every opportunity to experience all that school has to offer.

My Project

To help my students get the most out of their education, we work in small groups. However with groups it is hard to make visual boards or do group work. We need white boards desk top white boards for our small groups so that the students can follow along and have the visual support that then need to be successful. Our students are very visual and need lessons to be modeled for them. Staff use the boards to show students examples of the work (math problems, spelling out words ect.) The store and teach board will allow us to create mobile stations with such supports as word walls and organize their visual support. With these boards we would be able to organize, keep ourselves together, on task and learning.
