My Students

TECHNOLOGY is the GREAT EQUALIZER! This quote came from my Principal who was recently awarded Washington State Middle School Principal of the Year. Education combined with technology is the one thing we can provide each student.

Students at my school are quite diverse, in fact, they come from the most diverse part of the city.

We are a Title 1 award winner, meaning many of our students live at or below poverty. They are such a strong and willing group, eager to learn and be successful. With that said, life is tough and many of these children face hardships that most of us could only imagine. Every day they bring new life experiences and challenges to life, they teach me so much about myself

My Project

The IPOD Touch has revolutionized education. Text books are no longer the immediate instructional tool for Social Studies. With the Ipod touch, the cultures and people of the world are at our finger tips. Help me bring the world to my classroom and provide a learning experience that goes above and beyond the text. Technology is no longer the future, it is now! Multi-media, podcasts, lectures, and video conferencing... all at the touch of a few buttons. Without access to modern tools, we are leaving our students out of the future's equation for success.

This project is important to me because I am desperately trying to combine technology and social studies.

An interactive classroom is the most engaging classroom. Many students in our Title I (high poverty) School, lack these technologies. I know this generation learns best interactively, and technology is and will continue to be the GREAT EQUALIZER.
