Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I started teaching 20 years ago, and most of the books in our library are ones that have been there since I started teaching! Students come to class wanting to read Harry Potter or Percy Jackson or Diary of a Wimpy Kid... and I don't have them. Please help us bring our library up to date.

My students range in age from first grade to fourth grade.

Thanks to generous donations, my first and second graders have received new books, but my older kids are still needing something to read! Today, we have worked together to create a list that has something for everyone!

My Project

In this day of scripted curriculum and state testing, so many of our students have not learned the joy of reading for pleasure. Their reading skills, vocabularies, and imagination are not being fully developed. These books, selected by my students, will allow us to create a library where students can stretch their skills and their imagination.
